Lenora (De Souto) Moniz, 83, of Swansea passed away on December 17, 2013. She was the wife of the late Edward A. Moniz. Born in Fall River she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Diamentina (Farias) DeSouto. Lenora was a Swansea resident for 60 years, a graduate of Durfee High School class of 1948, and was a parishioner of St. John of God parish.

Survivors include two sons Edward A. Moniz Jr. (wife Jean) of Swansea and Michael A. Moniz of Pembroke, MA; a daughter Linda LePage (husband Steven) of Swansea; a brother John DeSouto of Somerset; two sisters Francis Alexander of Somerset and Madeline Carmody of CT; four grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Frank A. Moniz and her siblings Joseph DeSouto and Mary Alvares.

Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. THURSDAY at 8:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Calling hours THURSDAY 8:30 – 9:30 A.M.

Olive (Rosa) Storey, age 99 formerly of 695 N. Main St., Fall River, passed away Dec. 29, 2013 at the Country Gardens Nursing Care Center. She was the wife of the late Francis Storey and the daughter of the late Antone & Mary (Perry) Rosa. Prior to retiring, Olive had worked at the Sagamore Mills and then for Frito Lay.

She is survived by her son: Roger D. Storey (wife Claudette L.) of Swansea; grandson: Kevin Storey (wife Cindy Lee), great grandsons: Mason & Colin Coombes, great granddaughter: Grace Storey all of Swansea, MA; grandson Scott Storey (fiancée Lynley Ashby), great grandson: William Storey all of London, England; a sister: Mary Nixon of Newport, RI; and several nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel “Pat”, Antone, Everett, John Henry, & Irene Rosa.

John A. Dutra, age 60 of Swansea, passed away on Jan. 11, 2014 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Kristi (Belyea) Dutra and the late Joyce (Flannigan) Dutra. He was the son of the late John and Cerina (Cordeiro) Dutra.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Gabriel Dutra of Fall River, Darcy Franco (husband Carlos) of Swansea, and Kelly (Dutra) Gray (husband Chris) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Taylor, Kyle, Alyssa, Cameron, Zacharia, and Olivia; siblings: Gary Dutra, Deborah Medeiros, and Wendy Carreiro; several nieces & nephews.

John joined the Painters Union Local 1138, Boston in 1975 as a Bridge Painter. He was elected to the following positions for Local 1138, Warden, Trustee, Delegate to D.C. 35, and Delegate to the National Convention IUPAT, elected as Business Representative for D.C. 35 Boston, MA in 1983, Delegate to the National Convention in 1988. He was elected President of the New England Painters Agents in 1988 and in 1989 elected as President of the South Shore Building Trades.

John had Fall River, MA Citizens for Citizens Preschool dedicated to the South Shore Building Trades for all their free labor contributions. He went to work for the MBTA in 1992 as an Auto Technician, then as a Paint Foreman in 1996 and finally as Body Shop Foreman and Project Coordinator in 2011. John retired on August 27, 2011.

Steven Saint-Aubin, 61, of Swansea died January 19, 2014 at home peacefully after a long courageous battle with Glioblastoma.
He was the husband of Cynthia A. (Zimmerman) Poyant.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Barbara (Breen) Saint-Aubin of Dartmouth and the late George A.D. Saint-Aubin, he lived in New Bedford most of his life before moving to Swansea 12 years ago.
Steven was employed as a nurse anesthetist most recently at Charlton Memorial Hospital until his recent retirement.
He enjoyed photography, snow boarding, kayaking, cycling and travel. Steven was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was proud of his Irish heritage having duel citizenship in Ireland and held an passport for Ireland.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; 2 daughters, Stephanie Saint-Aubin and Caitlin Saint-Aubin, M.D., both of Rumford, RI; 2 sisters, Linda DesRoches of Florida and Patricia Saint-Aubin and her husband Ralph Greggs of Norfolk, MA; his former wife, Andrea (Saunders) Saint-Aubin of New Bedford; and 2 grandchildren, Olivia and Theodore Saint-Aubin.

Harold J. Hodkinson III, 47, of Swansea died unexpectedly, Friday, May 23, 2014 at home. Born in Fall River, son of Geraldine M. (Hopkins) Hodkinson of Swansea and the late Harold J. Hodkinson, Jr., he was a lifelong resident of Swansea. Harold graduated from Joseph Case High School and Johnson and Wales School of Culinary Arts. He was a chef at various restaurants in the area most recently the Train in Newport R.I. and Patriots Place in Foxboro MA. Mr. Hodkinson a.k.a “Hal” loved restoring his mustangs and cooking and he was also a motorcycle enthusiast. He was the “chef” of the family and would always prepare his best dishes for family functions. Including his mother, survivors include an older brother: Michael P. Hodkinson of Swansea; 3 older sisters: Debra A. Desmarais of Westport, Harriet J. Desrochers of Dartmouth and Robin M. Hodkinson of Fall River; a niece and 5 nephews; 2 great nieces and 3 great nephews; and many cousins. Junior C. “Eric” Erickson, age 89 of Swansea passed away peacefully on Monday August 25, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Marie (Soares) Erickson of 68 years and the son of the late Corent Frank and Mary (Paulson) Erickson. He proudly served his country as a WWII Navy Veteran, who served in the Philippines. He was also the owner of Eric’s Plumbing, former president of the Master Plumbers Association, member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Somerset Sportsman’s Club, and was an avid fisherman, gardener, hunter and beekeeper. In addition to his wife, he is survived by this five children; Jeffrey Erickson of Somerset, Dawn Turner of Swansea, Eric J. Erickson (wife Barbara) of Swansea, Gina Weyland of Rehoboth , and Andrea Crespi (husband Joseph) of Berkley, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of Betty Jenson Christianson and Frank C. Erickson and the late Marjorie Hawkins. His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday at 9 A.M. followed by a Funeral Service at The First Christian Congregational Church at 10 A.M in Swansea. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery also in Swansea. Calling hours are on Friday from 4-8. FALL RIVER… Joseph E. Dumont, 77, of Swansea passed away April 24, 2014 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of 44 years to Doreen (Salisbury) Dumont. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Elie and Marianne (Bruneau) Dumont, and had lived in Swansea since 1970. He was a 1956 graduate of the former Msgr. Prevost High School. He was a treasurer with the Leather Workers Union and a shop steward. Mr. Dumont enjoyed learning, loved politics and history, and was an usher at St. Michael’s Church for many years. Survivors include his wife, a Son: Joseph E. Dumont of Lake Oswego, OR, a Daughter: Dr. Georgette E. Dumont of Jacksonville Beach, FL, a Brother: Wilfrid Dumont of Fall River, a Sister: Marie Claire Fusco of Spring Hill, FL, 2 Grandchildren: Olivia Rose Dumont & Jack Dumont, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral mass to which relatives and friends are invited to will be held Saturday at 9:00AM at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, I530 Gardner’s Neck Road, Swansea. Burial will be private.
